Over 550 students from Waimea Intermediate joined their teammates in fancy dress and sporting team colours to compete in the annual swimming, running, and cycling event last Friday. Usually, the school has a great turn out of spectators in the form of whanau but this year with the region being in level 2 lockdown, spectators were kept away from the event in line with protocols. Principal Justine McDonald says, “It is great we can still hold the event because it’s so important to give the kids some fun in amongst so much uncertainty especially with something like a sporting event.”
