Tasman Bay is an incredible ecosystem that we are all connected to. Sustainer of life and playground to many. That’s what the event ‘Our Backyard – Our Playground’, held by Tasman Bay Cruising Club and the Tasman Bay Guardians, is about.
Stew Robertson of conservation group Tasman Bay Guardians will present on the ecology of the bay, the pressure it’s under and the collaborative work the Guardians are doing to help restore the Mauri (life force) of the bay.
Expect a compelling presentation of life beneath the waves, as he opens your eyes to the state of the bay.
Tasman Bay Guardians are a charitable Trust, delivering education programmes, biodiversity outcomes and community collaboration in the Top of The South.
In the first year the Trust has delivered programs to 790 students through 16 schools with demand increasing daily.
They also put 144 community members through a snorkelling experience day at Cable Bay earlier this year.
Stew is also the founder of Abel Tasman EcoTours and spends his days sharing the natural world with locals and international visitors alike. The event will be on 31st Oct at 5:30pm. The Tasman Bay Cruising Club is at 11 Cross Street, Port Nelson.
