Reiki, reflexology, chakra balancing and astrology are among the stalls and workshops being showcased at the first Spiritual Connections Expo on Sunday, August 19.
Sirian and Adriel, known simply by their first names and who are two of the organisers of the event, welcome the public to ‘come and explore’ what they have to share.
“There are a group of us who practice different aspects of healthy living, essential oils and emotional well-being,” says Sirian, “and we want to bring it together for people to see what’s out there.”
Adriel says people are becoming disillusioned with the health system and they want people to know there are other alternatives.
“Physically, spiritually and mentally, people will be able to take away what they want from it. They can have a little taster at the event and see what they think.”
The event has free entry, with the idea to have more of a Koha for the practitioners, “we are open to anything that is offered. We just want to make it accessible to everybody. Most events charge an entry fee and for a lot of people that is out of reach.”
Spiritualist gatherings are already operating in Nelson and Motueka, however the group would like to see if there is any interest in the Tasman area.
“We are seeing what’s out there and are looking to find a way to see if people in the area would be interested in a gathering of like-minded people for discussions, sharing of ideas and questions,” says Sirian.
“We see that people are searching for something, things are shifting, and we want to help people deal with that. People are becoming more aware. They are searching because there is an emptiness inside them, and they aren’t finding that fulfillment with the material things anymore, things are stirring.”
There will be 10 main stalls set up in Birch Hall, and workshops running from an adjacent building, with coffee carts and real fruit ice-cream available for purchase.
Sirian says they have been thinking about holding the event for a long time, “we feel there is something people need to be made aware of without paying big money for it. We have been blessed with these gifts and we want to share our gifts with other people.”
The Spiritual Connections Expo will be held on Sunday August 19, from 10am to 4pm, at the Richmond Showgrounds.
