A breakfast fund-raiser for Life Education Trust was held at the Nelson Suburbs Football Club on Thursday, November 22. One of the key organisers, Michelle Fitzgerald, says they had a great turnout with 80 people attending the event. “Norm Hewitt, ex-All Black and Dancing with the Stars winner, was the guest speaker. His address to the people attending was heartfelt and truly inspiring. Norm’s history is one that includes domestic violence, struggling with his own identity along with other challenges. He has turned his life around and is now dedicated to helping people realise their true potential and take responsibility for their actions. The morning finished off with an auction of a signed Richie McCaw All Blacks jersey. This went really well with the first auction winner donating it back to Life Ed to be re-auctioned. Being able to auction the jersey twice was a major contributor to us raising over $8,200 for Life Ed. Mick Toll was the second successful bidder. All the money raised yesterday will funnel directly back to the children in the Nelson/Tasman region.”
