They’re a little bit hotel, a little bit glamping and a little bit traditional Kiwi camping, all done with luxury and comfort in mind, and now the Rabbit Island Huts have been shortlisted in the Unique category for Bookabach’s national awards.

“It’s really exciting, there’re a lot of baches around the country so it’s great to be recognised,” says owner and operator Jane Cunliffe.

Each year, bookabach.com asks Kiwis to vote on their favourite of more than 11,000 baches across the country and this year Bookabach has a new award – the People’s Choice Award – which will take top honours and be crowned the country’s favourite bach.

“We have established the People’s Choice Award as a way for Kiwis to pick their perfect bach. With more than 11,000 properties listed on bookabach.co.nz, we’ve given Kiwis a head start and narrowed down the choice to 40 of the best baches, spanning every corner of the country,” says Bookabach general manager, Peter Miles.

Rabbit Island Huts says the recognition is reflective of their hard work and the interesting style and popularity of their accommodation.

Jane and her husband, John Slotemaker, built the huts nearly two years ago with the intention of creating “a space where people can feel at home”.

“People just want to chill out and relax, and we offer that. It’s also the little things that sets us apart, we offer a lot of complimentary bits and pieces that other accommodation providers tend to charge for.”

Everybody is invited to vote by visiting www.bachoftheyear.co.nz and all voters go in the draw to win a $10,000 Bookabach voucher to fund their next holiday adventure.

Spread the love.
