Second-Hand Sunday is upon us and is a great way to have a spring clean before Christmas, says Nic Brydon, Tasman District Council’s partnership and education officer.
“The Second-Hand Sunday is a great initiative to reduce waste going to landfill. It emphasis reusing and up-cycling second-hand goods to give them a new life. The feedback from communities has been extremely positive from past events, so the councils are looking into running the event more often in the future.” Nic says the benefits range from saving money to teaching people to consume less and reuse more. Some ideas of things for people to put out include children’s toys, clothing, kitchenware and electronics.
“Please make sure the second-hand goods are in acceptable condition.”
The event is free to register, and anyone can treasure-hunt for goods in Tasman and Nelson on December 2 from 10am onwards.
“It is a great way to save money. No disposal fees for givers and free goods for buyers!”
