From the court to coffee

While sales is nothing new to Brendon Bailey running a café sure is, but the former Giants basketball player and coach is taking it all in his stride alongside his wife Lee-anne.
The couple took over Zink café, bbq and heating store, on Richmond’s Champion Rd, in May this year after deciding it was time for a change.
“It’s been really good. We have an awesome staff so that has made it a lot easier,” says Brendon.
Opening their doors from 6.30am Monday to Friday, plenty of customers have become reliant on securing their morning coffee fix from Zink.
And it’s a good fix too, they’re served up Sublime coffee accompanied by Oaklands milk. The cafe prides itself on supplying customers with smooth rich coffee that is full of flavour and producing on-site an array of freshly made, wholesome food with gluten and dairy-free options available.
It’s quite possibly the warmest café in the region with models of their various heating options cranking to ensure a cosy atmosphere.
They’re the area’s Weber BBQ specialist dealer and also stock gas, wood and electric fires.
Between selling bbqs and café fare, Brendon still manages to find time to share his basketball expertise by coaching the Nelson Boys senior A and the Tasman under-17 teams. “I’ll always be involved in basketball.”
