It was a shocked Gary Brown (Brownie) who found three sets of Christmas lights and a Christmas card sitting on his doorstep last week.

They had been left anonymously, and the Christmas card contained apologies for the theft of Gary’s lights, Christmas lights that had been stolen a few years ago.

“It’s the thought behind returning the lights that counts for me,” says Gary.

He has been putting up Christmas lights for many years, for no other reason than to bring enjoyment to whoever wants to stop and check them out.

The writer of the card said they were deeply ashamed of their and their friend’s young, naïve and stupid act of stealing Gary’s ‘beautiful lights’ that night.

In the card, they also mentioned the regret for whatever level of mistrust the theft had left in the community.

Gary wanted to say thanks to the anonymous gift giver for leaving the sets of lights and for taking the time to write the message in the Christmas card.

“It appears you’ve grown up, young man,’ says Gary.

Spread the love.
