A car set alight last Thursday night behind Cash’N’Trade Richmond is the latest of concerns for nearby business owners, who say that suspicious looking people hanging around the Petrie car park have made them feel unsafe.

The 25-metre lane pool at the Richmond Aquatic Centre has temporarily closed, as the centre undertakes some much-needed repairs on the pool over the next few months. The pool will be closed for the next two months as it undergoes a full re-tiling.

Shelly Roberts, a mother of 6 and a former sports co-ordinator for Waimea Intermediate, was awarded the Waimea Soroptimists Education grant this year, as she works towards finishing her Bachelor of Teaching and Learning.

Waimea College students created a “peace chain” in a move of solidarity with the people of Christchurch, including the students of its partner schools, Papanui High School and Cashmere High School.
