The proposal presented by the Tasman District Council (TDC) aims to reduce road deaths and serious injuries and ensure consistency across the roading network. The consultation is open at the TDC website and the proposed changes can be presented until 1 November.

The first Prostate Cup Fundraising Tournament will be today at the Hope Hall from 6pm, with all proceeds being donated to the Blue September Prostate Cancer awareness fund. It is a 5-a-side tournament and a team entry is $50.

Two local businesses received outstanding results at this year’s Nelson Hospitality Awards. The prizes went to Takeshi Nagahama, from restaurant La Capilla in Appleby, who won as Best Head Chef of the Year and to Raeward Fresh in Richmond, chosen as People’s Choice Best Local Supplier.

The marine artist Paul Deacon has arrived in Richmond and will have his paintings displayed at the Tasman National Art Awards in Mapua. The exhibition runs from 29 September to 12 October.
