The Brightwater community are holding their garage sales all together this Saturday, 27th February.
“I like the concept of it, reselling things rather than being a throw-away society,” says organiser Jilly Perry.
The organisers provide the marketing behind the event and the garage sales signs to use on the day.
“We just want people to participant and get to know each other in the community,” says Alex Snegirev.
He says they’re doing it to bring the community together because so often we don’t know our neighbours.
At the last count, there were 17 households around Brightwater set to have a garage sale.
“It’s a chance to sell those things you don’t need or find that special thing you’ve been looking for while being together as a community,” he says.
Hollybush Drive has the most households having garage sales to date. The outcome of Saturday will decide if more of the same events will take place in the future.
