The Tasman District Library is heading outdoors by showing up in various locations around the region.
The initiative is providing general library services plus information on what events and resources are available within the library.
“The pop-up library will be a great way to deliver library services out among our wider community and let people know about the facilities we offer,” says libraries manager Glennis Coote.
From the pop-up library, the public are able to sign up for and renew memberships, borrow books from the pop-up collection and get help accessing the free library e-resources.
It’s also a place where people learn about the free services and events that are on offer at Tasman District Library branches, such as the Book a Librarian service and the various children’s and young adults’ programmes.
“We’re looking forward to surprising people with the quirky pop-up stand in places they do not traditionally expect to see a library,” says community engagement and outreach specialist Lucy Carver.
Discover what’s on at the library, be it a digital drop-in session, job-seeker support classes or family history resources.
Lucy says they had a great first run of the pop-up library at the Gladstone Road skatepark last Friday. The next pop-up event is scheduled for this Sunday, at the Big Tiny Home Expo in Motueka. The following one, although not yet confirmed, is earmarked for the 28th March, at the Richmond Aquatic Centre’s Family Fun Day.
