Ivan Stevens was having renovations done to his bathroom when the builder found something hidden in the wall.
It was a photo negative of a wedding party having their official wedding photo taken outside a church. Ivan’s house on Cheyne Walk, near Washbourn Gardens, in Richmond was built in 1951.
There are only seven houses on Ivan’s street and none of the neighbours, some who have lived there longer than Ivan can identify neither the people nor the church in the photo.
The above photo is the negative Ivan had printed to help try and identify the details. Nothing was written on the wall to go with the negative, but Ivan is pretty sure the wooden church is not in Richmond.
Ivan recognises the wedding party are wearing conventional clothing but couldn’t hazard a guess as to the era although he thinks it could be the 1950s.
