Richmond Rotary are getting behind the funding required for the Richmond community street piano that has been part of the Richmond scene for seven years.
The piano which currently sits outside Kmart needs maintenance to keep it in good working order. “We saw the piece in the Waimea Weekly and decided to get behind it because it’s a great part of the community,” says Richmond Rotary president, Debra Gibbs.
The Beale piano needs its bass strings restrung good overhaul and tune. The owner of the piano who donated it to the community, Steph Buck has estimated the cost in the vicinity of $3000. Rotary is kicking off the fundraising to the tune of $500 and seeks help from the community to raise as much of the remainder as possible.
Richmond Rotary have a quiz night happening on the 4th of March at the Brightwater Sprig & Fern to fundraise for the piano.
