United Video Richmond has announced it will be closing its doors for good on Sunday, October 28.

The long-standing video store has been providing patrons with family movie nights and rainy day snuggles for many years and has been the only one left in Richmond since Video Ezy’s closing in November 2015.

United Video Richmond’s manager Lyn Caldwell says it’s the end of an era.

“The staff and I will miss our wonderful customers immensely. They are like family and close friends and we know most of their names off by heart. As much as this is a sad time, we would like to thank all of you for supporting us over the years and giving us a wealth of fantastic memories (some hilarious) and we wish you all the very best for the future.”

Allen and Karen Knott, owners of United Video Nelson, will have the last DVD store left standing in the Top of the South and Lyn says they would be more than happy to look after Richmond’s customers after the store closes.

The closing down sale started on October 3 and will run until its final day on October 28, with DVD’s at bargain prices.
