Juniors spring into tennis

The Nelson Bays Tennis Association’s primary and intermediate ‘Have a Go’ open day takes place at tennis clubs across the region on Saturday, September 15.  All schools from Tapawera to Golden Bay are invited to take part in a free hour of fun on court with their local tennis coach.  The ‘Have a Go’ programme launches the summer tennis season with clubs promoting junior tennis across the region over the same weekend. Coaches have been busy this term delivering the Tennis Hot Shots (THS) schools programme into 38 schools throughout the region during term 3; there is not a single day this term that tennis is not happening at a school somewhere in the region. These THS schools sessions link into the ‘Have a Go Day’ on September, 15, and an interschool tennis league run at local clubs throughout term four.   Both the THS Schools programme and the “Have a Go Day” enable students to try out tennis with their school mates before committing to the sport. NBS is the Nelson sponsor for the schools programme, also funded by Sport Tasman, Mainland Foundation, NZT and Pub Charity.
