Frank Witowski began designing, by his account, the first carbon fibre e-bike cruiser, 14 months ago while in his Richmond home.
“I had thought ‘lets get an e-bike’ but they were really expensive and I couldn’t find what I wanted. So I thought I could design an e-bike better,” says Frank.
With that the German-born entrepreneur approached bike experts and opting for carbon fibre over its fifty-percent-less strength aluminium counterpart, set about creating and successfully building his perfect e-bike through a factory in China.
Quality parts like Shimano, Tektro and Novatec were incorporated onto the strong and reliable frame, while only the most-advanced Samsung batteries power the largest Bafang motor possible, making it the ideal commuter when teamed with tyres that allow for on and off-road action.
It became obvious he was onto a winner when Frank would be approached and queried about his set of wheels while out and about.
With the evolving idea of building future e-bikes to sell, Frank set off touring his e-bike around the country in January this year to gather feedback from dealers, and after being told by the majority of them that they could easily on-sell his e-bike he launched into manufacture.
Male and female versions are retailing for $4950 and launching at Richmond’s Avanti Store on Saturday, August 4.
The first 100 e-bikes sold will be accompanied by a set of saddle-bags and a lock.
“The key is it has to be affordable, it’s no good having something over-priced that no-one can buy. I look at it and I think ‘that’s a cool bike’, and I did that!”
