Annual gala and silent auction this Sunday

For nearly sixty years the event has been marked on calendars in and around Brightwater and this year the date is Sunday, June 24, for the school’s popular winter gala and silent auction.
The vibrant primary school has been an integral part of the community since it was established in 1888, and today has nearly 300 students.
The Sunday gala will run from 11am until 2pm and include a plethora of kids activities including pony rides, bouncy castles, jeep rides, lazer tag, bungy trampoline, big dig, climbing wall, hair design and nails.
Alongside all the activities there’ll be plenty of hot food to warm bellies and entertainment from belly dancing to hip hop.
The silent auction has more than 174 items that have been donated from local and national businesses, and various families and friends of the school.
The proceeds from this year’s event will go toward resurfacing the courts in front of rooms 12 and 13 with a colourful, hardwearing synthetic turf surface.
The previous two years’ galas raised money for the school’s new junior playground that was completed in February. The playground has become an asset to the Brightwater community, along with the cycle track completed in 2015.
The annual single-biggest school fund-raiser and community event will include some fabulous prizes in various raffles and the ‘wheel of fortune’.
With plant and baking stalls and a fire safety demonstration there really is something for the entire family, so pop along on Sunday and support the school.
