Tasman District Council’s new CEO will begin work on May, 28. Since the current CEO Lindsay McKenzie announced his retirement last year the Council has undertaken a wide search for a replacement.
Janine Dowding has been selected to lead the Council. Living locally, the current Ministry for Social Development regional commissioner, moved to the region over 20 years ago. She has experienced first-hand the growth the District has undergone and the challenges it faces in a future of rapid change.
“I am delighted to have been appointed as the next Chief Executive Officer for the Tasman District Council,” says Janine. “The communities within the Tasman District are very close to my heart and I feel privileged to be able to work alongside a talented senior management team to help lead and support the Council to achieve wonderful progress for the region.”
In selecting Janine, Tasman Mayor Richard Kempthorne says “the Council was very aware of the challenges we face over the next few years and the need to maintain the positive change the Council has undertaken throughout Lindsay’s admirable tenure.
“We have a come long way over the last seven years however, the journey is never over. With this in mind it was important we attracted a candidate with strong managerial experience combined with a wide knowledge, experience and appreciation of the area we serve.
“While the District and Council have much to thank Lindsay for, and his legacy will be a long standing one, we look forward to welcoming Janine when she joins Council as Chief Executive.”
